Rediscovering My Style

$
0
0

I’m going through something. Something positive. Not sure what it is, but I believe it might be a spiritual awakening. Too soon to tell, but I just feel different and I can’t put my finger in exactly what “it” is. I feel like a new person and I’m eager to share this process with you. All of you. This is making life more beautiful though because I know that there’s more to life than what we see. What we experience in 3D. I’ve been trying to reach my inner self. The real me who has always been sort of “peeking” through my eyes. My soul.

As I’m going through this, I’m also rediscovering my style. Wearing things that truly make me feel comfortable. Styling outfits that resonate with the deeper “me”. I never thought about it this way, but I’ve always known that clothes should represent the person and the story they’re trying to tell about the individual. You might see a subtle change or you might see a drastic change in the way I dress. I’m not sure yet, but I’m on a mission to discover that.

This look just feels right.

My Fresh Face, Everyday Makeup Routine

Today I want to share my updated everyday face routine. It’s a simple look I do almost every single day to look fresh and awake. It works for me because my makeup stays in place all day and I don’t have to touch up that often. I have also been loving the simplicity of it and with my lighter hair, I can get away with wearing less makeup!

I’ve always been a fan of black paired with neon yellow. So now that it’s officially spring, I can whip out a new rendition of this great combination. Since I work all week, you will catch me in my mommy uniform, which persists of Target tee shirts, old beat up jeans, cardigans, and flats. So I like to dress it up a bit on the weekends because it gives me an excuse to wear my latest closet additions out like these Valentino Rockstud heels. I got them half a size bigger (6.5), which surprisingly fit well. I did have to take them to the shoe doctor because the straps where way too loose around my ankles. I had the same issue with a size 6 so the fact that I bought the half a size bigger wasn’t the case. Now my Vali’s fit perfectly snug so they’re comfortable to walk in and don’t hurt my toes.

Outfit of the Day: Jumper Stumper

I recently bought this jumper at American Eagle a couple of days back for Coachella. The fit was great, and I thought it would be a great part of an outfit for the festival. Since the fabric is breathable, it keeps me cool throughout the day, but also protects from the cool air at night. It has been hanging in plain view inside my closet, and I just couldn’t resist wearing it today while out running errands. I may wear it again at Coachella, but with a pair of black booties and a military jacket.

Today I paired this jumpsuit with a bright yellow cropped jacket and kitten heels for a glam feel. I love dressing up and everyday is a new day to experiment with my style. Getting dressed and putting thought into each look really allows me to get creative. And being creative is one of the things that I love the most.

Lauren Conrad Inspired Tutorial “Smokey Eyes + Dewy Skin”

I felt inspired to recreate (with my own tweaks) Lauren Conrad’s Allure magazine cover because I loved the dark brown smokey eyes and dewy skin combination. There’s something very 60′s mod about this look. Not only with the eyes, but with the soft bombshell waves. I’m always quite fond of that being that I’ve always wished I was born in a different decade. Wouldn’t mind being a 60′s gal like my Mom!

Spring Beauty Must-Haves

I love spring because it signifies that the world is starting to look colorful once again. Leaving the cold and grey winter days is not a problem for me. I rather enjoy the long and warm afternoons and the April showers that grace this city only a few times a year.

Since I’ve been doing a lot of different spring tutorials, like this one here, here, and here. I thought it would only be right if I shared with you my must-have beauty products for this season. Products that range from taming frizzy hair on humid days, to bright and fun shades of lip-gloss that can brighten up your day.

Enter code “DulceDeal” at checkout to get 25% off any Gerard Cosmetics or Whitening Lightning Order: http://bit.ly/GerardCosmeticsGlosses

Spring Beauty Must Haves

-John Frieda Frizz Ease Original 6 Effects Serum – $7.99
My hair texture is curly and wavy so I always end up with frizzy hair. I only use half a pump on soaking wet hair after I get out the shower regardless of what style I choose to do that day or night. It tames the frizz and it also acts as a heat protectant. Among other things it also protects against humidity, so if you like in a state such as Florida, then you should definitely give this product a try!

- ST. Ives Fresh Hydration Spray Lotion (Coconut Milk & Orchid Extract)- $7.69
It smells amazing (very similar to Olay’s Quench Body Lotion) and it’s perfectly hydrating. I love the continuous spray which quickly covers my body for faster application. It also feels light and it absorbs quickly on to the skin.

- Whitening Lightning Super Booster Whitening Pen – Enter “DulceDeal” at checkout for 25% off!
A convenient whitening pen that restores my teeth to their natural white state. No sensitivity and it’s easy to apply. I do it before bedtime and when I wake up all I have to do is rinse it off and brush my teeth. Now that the season for bright lipsticks and glosses is here, it’s important for me to keep a white smile. I have a video on my Oral Hygiene and How I Keep a White Smile if you want to see the more in depth process.
*Also great for traveling when you need to whiten on the go, like a destination wedding.*

- Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Sunscreen SPF 30- $7.99
This facial sunscreen is light enough to mix with my favorite foundations with out disturbing their formula. It also moisturizes my face without looking oily and white. And not to mention that the scent bring back memories of our family vacation to Hawaii, because that’s where I first discovered this product. I was so happy when I saw that they came out with a facial sunscreen.

- Gerard Cosmetics BB+ Illumination Facial Cream – $36.00
This is a great product for spring because it gives your skin a healthy, dewy finish. I mix it with my foundation to achieve a glow from within. It can also be used alone.

- Dove Advanced Care Nourished Beauty 48H Deodorant- $6.19
Strong protection against sweat and keeps you dry. It’s also gentle enough to be used after shaving. Scent is divine! Light, feminine, and floral. (I have normal skin, but from what I hear, it’s great for sensitive skin too)

- Kiss Nail Dress (wraps) Eyelets- Around $6.00 and up
What better way to celebrate this season then with colorful, bright, Aztec prints on your nails?! (Great for Coachella too!!!)

- Nivea Lip Butter Raspberry Rosé Kiss- $2.99
What a delight this is for your lips! Hydrating, rich, and creamy. Slight, baby-doll pink tint.

- Almay Intense i-Color Shadow Stick for Brown Eyes. $7.99
I choose this product as a must have for spring because it’s crease proof and easy to use. You can use the teal side as a quick way to add color to your lids or the champagne side to add shimmer/highlight. Great for girls in High School too because it’s light and fresh.

- Whitening Lightning Color Your Smile Lighted Lip-gloss “Fiji”
A wearable and buildable shade of pink. Such a pretty pastel for spring.

Coachella 2014 Photo Diary

While I was looking forward to the festival once again (Spicy pies…mmm), I couldn’t stop thinking about the unpredictable weather in Indio. Last year for the first weekend, Jesse and I were unprepared to say the least. We didn’t bring a small blanket, a backpack, a sweater, or a Camelbak to hydrate (H2O is $2). The wind picked up Saturday night; so needless to say, the lines at the gift shop were full of people trying to get sweaters (including us ☹).

This year we went a bit more prepared with a thin blanket, sweaters, a backpack (to sneak “Water” into the main terrace…lol), and Jesse’s Camelbak. We decided to leave the blanket back at the hotel because the rules stated “No Blankets” even though we seen plenty at the festival.

Jesse and I decided to check in on Thursday so we wouldn’t be rushing Friday morning. Fruttare hooked us up with some Coachella VIP passes. Along with all the great artists that played, there was plenty of art that caught my eye like the giant robot that I Instagrammed, and the lethargic-moving spaceman. My favorite was the Cryo-chrome (spinning room). The line didn’t stop all weekend just like at the Fruttare tent. Whoever missed the tent, missed out on their amazing coconut bars. Delish!

The performances were awesome. The DJ’s really had the crowds jumping all weekend. My favorite performances were Outkast, Lorde, and Ellie Goulding. And yes I missed several performances like: Nas, Jay-Z, Beyonce & and Pharell…ughh!

Overall, the Coachella was unforgettable. The food, music, and venue did not disappoint. I am looking forward to next year already. I wish they had the lineups prior to buying tickets though. Thanks again for checking out my blog. Make sure to comment down below.

Happy Sunday! Doing the usual. Watching Super Soul Sunday, drinking coffee, and blogging about yesterday’s outfit. I’ve been dying to wear my new boyfriend jeans from LOFT and what better day to wear them, than on a chill Saturday afternoon. I paired them with a grey tee shirt form Target that I had been wearing all day around the house and it just seemed like the perfect match. They both feel like PJ’s and who doesn’t want to wear anything that feels like PJ’s out the house, right? To spice things up though, I wore my Valentino shoes in a bright yellow tone. For a small frame like mine, heels are MANDATORY when it comes to pairing them with boyfriend style jeans. Oh, and these are a size 00P. I’m lacking on the bum side so they fit a bit loose there, but everywhere else they fit fine. Just throwing that out there for my petite readers who are looking for a good quality, reasonably priced boyfriend style jeans.

How was your weekend? Hopefully great! Mine was perfect, just the way I like it. Slept in till about 11 AM, filmed a Target haul, went to see the movie Bears (AMAZING and very touching), saw Howie Mandel there, came back played with my papi, and now I’m watching Devious Maids as I work on this post. Wonderful Sunday indeed.

After getting back from my short trip to D.C., I decided that I would start the week off by putting a cute outfit together, and spending some much needed time outdoors with my family. I missed them so much.

I am wearing this pink top, which I paired with these high-waist blue shorts from Fashion Nova that Jesse actually really liked on me. The flowers complemented the shorts really well. For the accessories, I kept it really simple. I chose this yellow purse with these cute heels to complete the OOTD.

I brought my Tory Burch sandals because spending a whole day in heels is inevitable for me. The day was nice, but a little cloudy (perfect for the BP’s ☺). Izek wanted to go to the park, so we took his bubbles and kite and headed to Paramount Ranch for the afternoon. I never knew flying a kite was so much fun!!

Death Valley 2014

$

My family trip to Death Valley was a spur of the moment decision made with the intension to get away from it all. Not that we NEEDED to get away from it all. We’re quite happy and stress free actually, but we just wanted to spend sometime away from social media (which didn’t really work, LOL). We were going to travel to Sedona Arizona, but the trip was a few hours too long and since we had just planned it, we opted for Death Valley instead.
The trip from Los Angeles to the National Park was about 5 hours. We rented a Jeep from Rent-A-Car, packed our suitcases, snacks and headed out the door ready to embark on a new adventure. The ride up the highway was mesmerizing because we were witnessing nature in a way we’ve never seen it before. The mountains and valleys were a beautiful sight to see which left us in awe. We made a few quick stops along the way to stretch our legs, use the restrooms and buy some of the best home made beef jerky I’ve had in a long time.
We finally arrived at Death Valley around 7PM and checked in at the Furnace Creek Ranch. I highly recommended it by the way. It’s a beautiful little town with so much history and it makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. There’s a pool, golf course, playground, restaurants, saloon, gift shops/general store, and a museum. It’s also close to a lot of great locations to check out while you’re there. We ate at the 49ers Café every single day and night because the food was great and the service was amazing.
I have so many great things to say about Death Valley! I also want to give you guys a list of the places we visited and that we think are a must to check out while you’re there.

Scotty’s Castle a.k.a Death Valley Ranch.
This place offered a 1 hour tour of the castle which we really liked. It covered a lot of history and I also found a lot of inspiration on all the prints of the fabrics and the actual structure of the building. It sparked a lot of creativity for future projects. The drive up to castle was pretty far, but we went anyway. While we were in area we decided to visit a ghost town. I’m a complete sucker for anything scary. Only during the day though, lol. So we drove down to the Ghost town of Rhyolite. The ruins of the town are quite eerie because you can just visualize how life was lived there over 100 years ago.
We then went to a small town in Nevada called Beatty to grab a bite to eat. Nothing much to see or do there though but a candy factory.
Anyway, enjoy my picture diary from the great Death Valley and hopefully it inspires you to visit this great national park.
Must see places:
- Sand Dunes at Mesquite Flats
- Badwater Basin: The lowest point of elevation in North America (282 Feet!)
- Zabriske Point
- Dante’s View.
- Mosaic Canyon
- Artist’s Palette:
This was one of my favorite places to visit because you can see a beautiful array of colors from the minerals that lie within the mountains. I bought a lot of crystals while I was there and I can’t wait to start doing my research on each and every single one of the. Also, if you find a minerals or gold and you take it home you can go to jail! Just FYI. Sucks right?

Outfit of the Day: Sexy Little Black Dress

I don’t wear many dresses like this. Partly because I don’t own many. Maybe I should invest in a few more because they make me feel great! It’s a different kind of attitude and confidence I get when I wear a sexy little dress. So it’s a very affordable little black dress perfect for any night out! Need to make a trip to Vegas to see Britney and might take this little number with me. Anyway, I paired it with simple nude shoes and a printed long coverup. I had to refrain myself from adding neon because I ALWAYS do when it comes to black, but I think this was appropriate for this look.

Today I wanted to share a fun nail tutorial inspired by my birthday vacation to Hawaii from last year. The sunsets are one of the most beautiful sights to see because there’s not one that compares to the day before. We loved spending the afternoon by the beach, feeling the warm breeze, hearing and seeing the waves wash upon the shore, and seeing the gorgeous array of colors change and become more intestine as the sun disappeared into the horizon.

Good Morning America and Beauty Con 2014 #NYC

This past trip to NYC was amazing! It was a long trip, but well worth it nonetheless. I was pretty busy running around the city from meeting to meeting and in between that time, I made an appearance on Good Morning America. Live television, guys!! Watch me below and let me know what you think. I believe i conquered that fear :)

I was pretty nervous as you can imagine and had terrible anxiety leading up to the event. What I told myself was that if God didn’t think I could do it, then he wouldn’t have blessed me with the opportunity. I also have more confidence in myself since reading The Confidence Code and really understanding what fear is and what it can do to a person. Trust me, I know exactly what fear can do and I can tell you that fear is not real! I just focus on being me and if people don’t like that, well who cares! Just being honest here. I’ve spent too much time and energy trying to please people who at the end still don’t understand or like me. So why bother. I love being me and that’s all that matters. That attitude has helped me so much in my life in these past few months. I’ve seen major transformations.

Anyway, below is the picture diary of my adventure in the city, enjoy!
